How Do You Know When To Stop Trying School?
What do you do when the professionals are telling you to keep going - but you can see that things are not well?

When Nicola Leyland’s son was eight, he was kicked in the head by a horse. Everyone told her that he must get back to school, but when he did, everything was different. She could see how much things had changed and how distressed he was, but it seemed like the solution was always more school.
One day her son made a wish. He said he would like never to go back to school. Nicola granted that wish and decided that they would try something different. He stopped going to school and she didn’t try to replicate school at home. She gave him time and space to recover.
He’s now seventeen. Join Dr Naomi Fisher and Nicola Leyland in this unique and personal discussion as they look back over the journey. How did Nicola have the courage to go against professional advice, and do what she thought was right for her son? How did she know that it was the right moment to do so? How did they all recover from the trauma of what had happened? And what did her son’s education really look like?
