We experience this nearly on the daily if we're out and about - the glances, and sometimes direct question of 'shouldn't she be in school?' Well no, school worked for us for a while, and then into High School it no longer worked. It was SO HARD at first, but now looking back I wouldn't change my teen coming out of the school system for the world.

I'm confused by this post. I understand that we shouldn't force our kids to go to school every single day and that a few days off here and there is fine, but what is a parent to do if a kid absolutely hates going to school but actually does fine in school? Do we pull the kid from school completely and...do what? Let the kids play at home all day? Hire a home teacher? Or are we talking about very young kids? My understanding is that it's mandatory for kids of certain ages to at least get basic education to avoid being illiterate. How would kids learn basic literacy if they're not in school, especially when homeschooling isn't an option?
