Why can our children thrive in some places, whilst struggling so hard in others?

Just wanted to add that it’s not only the environment but also what’s going on inside - so what is possible in one place at one time isn’t necessarily possible in the same place at another time. We can’t assume that because a child can do something at one time, they’ll automatically be able to do it in another time, even in the same place and context
Exactly that! I’ve just told my sons head of year I will not spend any more time debating if his absences should be authorised or not. It’s simple. If they support him, he’ll attend. If they don’t, he can’t. The environment will determine the outcome.
