A book that I keep with me as I'm changing my mind, and watching my kids' minds changing to the better since they left school. They learn so many academic and social skills without a single instruction or guidance. Whenever I get a glimpse of doubt ( still deschooling), I read "changing our minds" ☺️
"It’s a call to think about education differently. Schools don’t have to be like they are."
I love this. What strikes me is how hard it would be to systematically untangle the long-term benefits and drawbacks of different school environments. Like, which elements of schooling are actually crucial for an education, and which elements of schooling are not crucial or even harmful? I have no idea how to parse that and I greatly admire people like you who question cultural assumptions about schooling and education, even just by introducing the idea that they're not the same thing.
This sounds like a great read! I've just got a Kindle for my birthday too! Can't wait to read it 😊
Changing Our Minds is a fabulous book. Highly recommend it. It has you thinking about education in a whole different way.
